When is my ACT score going to come out?

Generally speaking, the ACT score will come out two Tuesdays after you’ve taken the test, and they are released in batches throughout the day. They used to be released at 10pm Monday nights (12pm midnight Central time, where ACT is located), but now they release in batches. That means if you are on the site the second Tuesday after your exam, and your score still hasn’t posted, check back a few hours later.

Which test is different?

The October test! They take an extra week to do their annual score equating. So expect that one from October 22nd to come out not November 1st, but November 8th, 2022.

What happens if my test was postponed?

You will likely get the score back two Tuesdays after the rescheduled date. For those of you who were rescheduled from Southwest High School to Rancho Bernardo High School on November 5th, you can expect your scores back November 15th (so only 1 week after your friends, even though you took it two weeks later).

Why haven’t I received my score yet, two Tuesdays after sitting?

There are many reasons why you might not receive your score on the first available day, the first of which is that ACT simply hasn’t posted all of the scores yet. Keep checking back until your score’s posted.

Another reason your score may not be posted yet is if the school delayed in sending off the tests. I remember this happening at a test location in the San Diego area years ago, and I happened to know they didn’t get sent off because one of our students accidentally left his calculator behind. He was unable to retrieve it for weeks because the administrator said they had to keep the room locked because there were still the ACT test packets in the room. Of course that meant the students didn’t get back their scores for 2 weeks after the month it took them to send them back in. It was the last time I’ve seen that particular school host an ACT!

Another (much more likely) reason your score may not be posted yet is that something was bubbled in incorrectly at the start of your test - you used a nickname instead of the official name you registered with, you misbubbled the Test Center code, something like that. Usually those tests are pulled for what I assume is some quality control before being released, and the scores don’t appear for the full 6-8 weeks they warn you about at the start and end of your official test.
