ACT Superscoring Now Available

This past fall, ACT announced that they would start to send Superscore Reports to colleges in lieu of students having to send multiple test scores. ACT initially released they planned to make Superscore Reports available in October 2020. However, ACT only recently announced the Superscoring as an option this April, available to students starting with the April 2021 ACT administration, as many of their new service releases have been postponed due to COVID-19.

While many colleges have historically allowed students to submit multiple ACT scores, now students are only sending one score total: their best score. The Superscore Report will take the highest score from each section across every ACT administration you sit for to create your Superscore. This takes out the middle ground of having you send your scores from each test individually. Colleges will not see your lowest scores anymore, as they won’t be sent at all, which also means they cannot critique the strength of your application based on those lower scores.

In this way, you see a greater reward when you make improvements on sections of the test because you no longer have to submit each score you receive. This could make an even stronger case for taking the ACT over the SAT if you have not yet decided, especially if you plan to sit for more than two official tests.
