Fall 2020 ACT Registration
Registration has officially opened for the fall ACT test dates. While the MyACT site is currently down due to high traffic volume, we wanted to share some suggestions with you for registration.
Test Location
Test spacing is limited and we’ve had many people reach out to let us know that the only open location near us is in Temecula. While it may look like all the spots in San Diego are taken, it may be that the San Diego County test sites are waiting for the OK to be able to open up for testing. If schools are able to open in the fall, it’s very likely that more test sites will become available. It’s also possible that even if schools are not able to open before the fall tests, they will still be available as test sites as long as they are able to comply with regulations. In other words: keep checking the availability.
That being said, if you are able to sign up for any local test site, we recommend that you do it. There is a possibility that you will be able to change your test site after registration. However, there is a $23 fee for changing your test location and you will have to change it before the registration deadline, pending availability.
Increasing Your Chances of Sitting for an In-Person Exam
If you can sign up for more than one test date, also do it! Test dates are filling up quickly, so if the earlier dates do end up getting canceled, you are in a much better position if you already have a seat at a later exam. Additionally, if you want to plan for a specific timeline, we would recommend that you sign up for one of the weekends that ACT is offering a Saturday and Sunday date (e.g. Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25). If you sign up for a test site in Riverside county for the Saturday and San Diego County for the Sunday, there’s a better chance that you can take one of the two tests that weekend.
Online Exams
ACT has been working on rolling out two different “online” exams: an in-person, computer-based exam and an at-home, online exam. They have now released that they will be putting the in-person computer-based exam option on hold to keep as many in-person paper-based seats open as possible. The good news is they continue to project the rollout of the at-home online option for late fall/early winter.
While we can’t know exactly what is going to happen going into the fall tests, we want to make sure that you have the most up to date information to make the best choice for you.
