On the eve of the first Digital SAT
I’ve been saying this for months: I am worried about the digital SAT that is coming.
I hope I am wrong. I hope Collegeboard did everything perfectly, it all runs smoothly, and everyone has a great test day experience tomorrow (or the best that a test day experience can be). However, I have been growing increasingly nervous as test day runs near.
Of note: the BlueBook app (the one used for practicing and for taking the official exam) going down in December, mere months away from the first official test. Also of note: only 4 practice tests released, with no plans to release future tests (including to test takers) as they have in the past. Also of note: the parentheses not always showing up on BlueBook app questions/answers where they should (thus invalidating all answer choices - the difference between (x-2) squared and x - 2 squared is the difference between right and wrong. Also of Note: their policies (including the calculator policy) on their website are unclear and prone to misinterpretation. And finally, the most concerning of all in light of everything else: the history of Collegeboard rolling out anything at all, but especially digital in 2020, has always been a bit of a disaster, with thousands of AP test takers unable to submit scores for their first AP and only offered an opportunity to take a separate test.
I have tried to stay mum on this topic for the sake of all of our test takers, but I feel remiss in not pointing this out before the test.
Like I said, I hope I am wrong! I hope everything goes smoothly for our test takers and test takers nationwide. But I am waiting, somewhat nervously, to see what will actually happen tomorrow.
