November 2020 SAT
The SAT test has seen significant drops in availability to host exams mainly in California and the North East - which isn’t great news for San Diego test-taking hopefuls. However, with San Diego maintaining red-tier status, many area schools are announcing their reopening plans, and with it, we anticipate more schools will come on line to host the test. High schools are the main locations for test sites, of which there are currently 9 in San Diego County who are planning to host the SAT on November 7th. With the test date less than a month away, some students and parents are wondering whether they will be receiving the dreaded cancellation email for a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) time this year.
To try to prevent last-minute test site cancellations, College Board now requires that test sites confirm by October 22nd that they will be able to host the November 7th administration. This is a significant step forward for College Board in keeping parents and students informed. While College Board can’t guarantee that local ordinances will allow test centers to be open on November 7th, they are making an effort to weed out test centers that don’t have the appropriate capacity or can’t meet the required precautions earlier in the process. Importantly, this will allow students who are registered at those sites who do not confirm by October 22nd 5 days until the registration change deadline to transfer to an available test center when possible.
If you are not yet registered for the November SAT, or end up having to register for a different site, below are a few test centers that still have availability, ranked by closest to farthest from San Diego. Keep in mind that regular registration has passed for the November date, but you are still able to register until October 27th with a late fee.
