San Diego Hotel Becomes New ACT Pop-up Site

With a high number of test site closures due to COVID-19 this summer, San Diego students have been looking for answers as to when they would be able to test next. Since the start of the closures, ACT has been reaching out to other potential test sites in cities like San Diego - who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 test site cancellations - to try to get them to become a “pop-up” test site. Recently, the Sheraton San Diego has been confirmed to be hosting all three October test administrations for the ACT, the only test site in San Diego County to allow testing before December. This is great news for the students of San Diego who have been waiting for either a closer test site or an earlier test date. More importantly, it sets the precedent that places with the space and ability to host the standardized tests are stepping up. While The Sheraton is the only non-college/high school center to currently be a pop-up test site, more may follow with the successful completion of the October 10th ACT administration.

Even better news for students is that there are still spots available for the October tests! ACT extended registration until October 5th, and you won’t be charged late fees for changing your test location or registering for a new administration. Currently, there are spots available for the Full ACT without Writing at the Sheraton on Saturday, October 10th, Saturday, October 24th, and Sunday, October 25th. Available spots for the Full ACT with Writing are on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 25th. We still recommend taking the ACT with Writing if possible, as it's another potential indicator of academic success. However, taking the test without the Writing section is still much better than not having a test score at all.

For those of you who want to map out the location, the address of the Sheraton is:

1380 Harbor Island Drive

San Diego, CA 92101

And is located in downtown San Diego. Parking is available nearby in Lot 1124 at 851 Harbor Island Drive.
